On Thursday 3rd October the year 13 Higher Sports Leaders organised a year 6 football festival for the local primary schools as part of their coursework assessment. They had to plan everything from writing a risk assessment to making sure there were enough biscuits! There was a great turnout with seven teams competing from Oakfield, The Greville, The Dawnay, and Leatherhead Trinity.  Everything ran smoothly and after a day of poor weather the sun even came out. Each team played six games and had a trip to the hydration station, where thanks to Bryony Davies everyone was supplied with a drink and biscuits. There were some very exciting matches, controlled by a great team of referees; James Young, Liam Hosking and Dan Malamud, who made sure everyone had fun and played fairly.  The end result was very close, with a tie for first place and so the scorers Louise Herring and Lucy Willcocks had to work out the winner on the amount of goals scored. Everyone played really well and the winners were Oakfield, with The Greville in second place and Leatherhead Trinity in third.  After a presentation of the certificates to all teams the children left having thoroughly enjoyed themselves with comments later coming back from participating schools saying:

“Many thanks to all of you who organised such a great event this afternoon. The children absolutely loved it.”

“Thank you for organising such an inclusive and fun tournament. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to give all our children who wanted to, a chance to participate.”
