Sixth Form Code of Conduct
Our intention is to create a happy and purposeful atmosphere in which all students have the opportunity to develop effectively. Sixth Formers enjoy certain privileges and freedoms, but we do expect Sixth Formers to respond to the trust placed in them.
Sixth Form Contract
On enrolling in the Sixth Form, all students sign a contract to indicate their willingness to abide by a set of rules which are established in an attempt to ensure that each individual student has the best possible opportunity to achieve her/his potential.
Attendance and Punctuality
Students are expected to be on the premises during school hours unless they have agreed home private study (see below). We operate a registration system in the Sixth Form and students must account for absence and be punctual. Information on punctuality and attendance is requested on references for College, University and Employment.
Private Study
All students have non-timetabled lessons; it is essential that students use these wisely. If they are making satisfactory progress in Year 13 students are allowed to take a small amount of this time at home. This privilege is withdrawn if students fall behind with their work.
Dress Code The Sixth Form are not expected to wear uniform. This distinguishes them from the rest of the school, but they are expected to set an example. We expect students to be neatly presented and to avoid extremes. Dress is governed by a code negotiated by the Sixth Form Committee. Football shirts, tracksuit bottoms and baseball caps, at present, are not allowed.
Contact with Parents
There is regular contact with parents. In addition to the ‘formal’ contact; progress cards, reports and parents’ consultation evening, parents will be informed if students infringe the rules of the Sixth Form contract. Although Sixth Formers are given much greater responsibility, we recognise that success is only achieved by a school working in partnership with students and parents.
