FAQ: Welfare

What is the school’s procedure if my child is unable to attend school?

You must contact the school office by 9am on the first day of absence and every day until your child returns to school.

What should my child do if he/she feels unwell at school?

Students should report to Welfare with a note in their planner from a teacher. They will be assessed and maybe spend some time recuperating. If it is felt necessary, parents will be contacted to make arrangements to collect their child.

My child takes regular medication or is on prescribed medication

Welfare department can only administer medication that has been provided with written permission by parent/guardian. A consent form must be completed, this is available from the Welfare Department.

My child suffers with Asthma

Invariably inhalers are left at home so Welfare are happy to hold a spare inhaler, providing it has your child's name clearly marked on it.

My child has a medical condition/allergy.

Welfare must be informed immediately of any long term illness or allergy. Any child holding an Epipen must carry it on them at all times and have a spare held in welfare.

Is there a direct telephone number for Welfare?

Yes, 01372 814444
