Year 11 Info and Support

Welcome to the dedicated year 11 page on the Therfield School website. This page is designed to provide all the information any year 11 student or parent could need in order to support the final stages of the GCSE journey. You will find all newsletters here, the important dates you need to know, the revision timetable and exam timetable. The page will also be updated regularly to give you a sense of what is being done in school to support year 11 students.

The current year 11s have worked tremendously hard so far this year and we look forward to celebrating the success they deserve in August. In a very short space of time the students will have completed their mock exams and we are looking forward to the Feedback Forum which is always a roaring success. This is the rebranding of parents evening specifically for year 11s and is 100% focussed on staff giving feedback from the mock exams completed before Christmas. It is an evening not to be missed and we hope that the ways in which students can improve are very clear and that everyone has the information they need to ensure success in the final exams..

In the New Year we will be launching our Passport to the Ball which will encourage students to take a number of steps which will help them succeed in their exams in order to earn their ticket for the End of Year Ball. This year it is being held at Denbies Wine Estate and promises to be another great event. It is being organised by the students, for the students and is something I have organised for a number of years so it is in safe hands. The Passport to the Ball ensures that students understand that it is a privilege for us to have such an event and for them to earn their place amongst their classmates for the final time they are all together. It will be taking place on Tuesday 26th June 2018.

We will also be starting our Ticket to Success draws which are aimed at rewarding students who take positive actions towards their own studies and success. These can be awarded for doing extra questions, attending revision sessions, creating resources or for anything which goes above and beyond what they are expected to do in their normal lessons and day to day activities. We hope that the year 11s find these a motivational and useful promotion of the hard work that we know is going on around the school. All the tickets awarded are put into a prize draw and the draw is completed fortnightly in the year 11 assembly.

Well done to all the students so far for all their hard work and we look forward to the upcoming mocks which we are sure will help increase their chances of success for the summer.
